 Wilson Is Strong at Motordrome

7/30/10 – Smithton, PA – Frank Wilson of Belmont, WV broke through to the winner’s circle in strong fashion in the DJ Safety 50 presented by City of McKeesport Mayor James R. Brewster at the Motordrome Speedway.  Hometown favorite Chris Bailey, Jr. of South Park, PA was the event’s fast qualifier, with a lap of 18.516 and rolled a “6” for the inversion placing Ash Hawkins of Canfield, OH and Kenny Kirsch Jr. of Hamilton, OH on the front row.

On the start, Hawkins was able to jump out front and lead the first 3 laps before a caution for the slowing Paul Hahn of Canton, MI.  Two-time winner Danny Jackson of Cincinnati, OH was able to muscle his way to the point on the restart.  Jackson was able to lead the next 20 laps while Wilson and point leader Bailey, Jr. worked their way to the front.  During a lap 23 caution for debris, Bailey, Jr went pit side to change a flat left rear tire forcing him to restart on the tail of the field.  The double-file restarts used in the ARCA Truck Series put Wilson on the outside of Jackson for the lap 24 restart.  Jackson and Wilson battled up high off of turn 4 causing Wilson to scrape the wall.  Undeterred, Wilson stuck his Drug Testing Centers of America/Perkins Supply/Team Wilson Driver Development Chevrolet on the high side entering turn 1 and worked the high side around Jackson for the lead.  He went on to lead the next 25 laps for the win while point leader Bailey battled from the tail up to 5th position.

Wilson was the winner with Danny Jackson in his Redbank Transport/Lykins Company/Doug Miller Performance Chevrolet in second.  Third went to Ash Hawkins in his A & K Racing Chevrolet.  Taking the checkers fourth in his NAPA Legend Battery/Kirsch’s Automotive Chevrolet was Kenny Kirsch Jr., of Hamilton, OH and rounding out the top 5 was point leader Chris Bailey, Jr., of South Park, PA in his C.A. Bailey Excavating/Will’s Warriors Chevrolet.

The series’ next stop will be at the Midvale Speedway in Midvale, OH on August 14, 2010. For more information on the ARCA Truck Series, please visit www.arcatruckracing.com.
